PYC@Whitman pilot project is a PYC choir that meets twice a week at an elementary school in outer southeast Portland. This PYC@Whitman project is intentionally directed toward underserved communities as a means to address inequities that impact youth and families in our community.
From our beginnings PYC has focused on maintaining a community in which young people feel empowered to discover themselves and their talents. To instill in them the discipline, engagement and self-confidence that build teens into well-rounded, confident adults. But for singers living in underserved communities traveling to Portland on a weekly basis is not always possible. So PYC is taking the program to them!
